Overview

SnapTrip helps you capture photos or audio and turn them into structured results (travel cards, meeting action items, study flashcards, document key facts).

Key privacy principles:

  • No account registration is required for core features
  • We process your captures only to provide features you request
  • Much processing happens on your device (camera, Apple Vision OCR, Apple Speech Recognition)
  • Some text and transcripts are sent to DeepSeek (cloud AI) after you accept in-app AI processing consent
  • Meeting audio is stored locally on your device for playback
  • We do not sell your personal information
  • We do not use your content to train public AI models
  • We do not use your data for cross-app advertising without your consent
02

Information We Collect

2.1 Content You Provide (User Content)

Depending on how you use SnapTrip, we may process:

  • Photos and scans (menus, tickets, signs, receipts, slides, documents)
  • Audio recordings (meetings, lectures, study sessions)
  • Text derived from OCR or speech recognition (transcripts, source text)
  • Structured results (cards, summaries, action items, quizzes, key facts)
  • Titles, notes, tags, and Library organization you create
  • Actions you take (save to trip, reminders, exports, email drafts)

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device type, OS version, app version, language, and general diagnostics
  • Crash logs and performance data (if enabled)
  • Subscription status (via Apple; we do not receive full payment details)
  • Approximate usage events needed to operate features and enforce limits

2.3 Information From Apple

If you subscribe through the App Store, Apple provides us with purchase and subscription status information. Payment processing is handled by Apple.

2.4 Information We Do NOT Intentionally Collect

  • Precise location tracking (SnapTrip does not require GPS for core features)
  • Contacts, calendars, or photos outside captures you initiate
  • Health or biometric data
  • Government ID numbers (unless you voluntarily scan such a document)
03

Vision / OCRExtract text from images on device
StoreKitProcess in-app subscriptions

Cloud AI Processing — DeepSeek

5.1 What DeepSeek Is

To generate structured results (cards, summaries, recommendations, quizzes, action items), SnapTrip sends relevant portions of your User Content to DeepSeek, operated by Hangzhou DeepSeek Artificial Intelligence Co., Ltd. (or its affiliates), via api.deepseek.com (“DeepSeek”).

5.2 When Data Is Sent

  • You initiate a capture or analysis (scan, record, regenerate, etc.)
  • You have accepted SnapTrip’s in-app AI processing consent (first use)
  • Network connectivity is available

5.3 What May Be Sent to DeepSeek

  • OCR text extracted from your scans
  • Transcripts derived from your recordings (after Apple Speech Recognition)
  • Scene context needed to classify content (travel, meeting, study, documents)
  • Prompt instructions required to produce structured JSON output

What is NOT sent for core features:

  • Your Apple ID, password, or payment card number
  • Meeting audio files (audio stays on your device; only transcript text may be sent)
  • Unrelated photos or files you did not choose to analyze

5.4 How We Use DeepSeek Output

DeepSeek returns structured text (cards, summaries, lists). We display these results in the app and save them to your local Library. We do not send DeepSeek output to advertisers.

5.5 Retention and Training

  • Cloud AI requests are processed to generate your results
  • We do not intentionally retain your User Content on our servers beyond what is needed to deliver the feature and maintain short operational logs
  • We do not use your content to train SnapTrip’s own models or public models
  • DeepSeek’s handling of data is subject to DeepSeek’s terms and privacy policy. We configure requests for app functionality only

5.6 Your Choice

If you decline in-app AI consent, SnapTrip will not send your content to DeepSeek. Cloud-based structured results may be unavailable until you accept.
06

Local Storage and Library

Most Library assets are stored locally on your device, including:

  • Saved results and metadata
  • Thumbnails and scan images you captured
  • Meeting audio files (when you record a meeting)

If you delete the app or specific items, local data is removed subject to iOS behavior and any backups you maintain (e.g., iCloud device backup).

Free accounts may have limits on the number of stored Library items; Pro subscriptions may remove or increase such limits.

07

Permissions We Request (iOS)

SnapTrip may request the following permissions. You can manage them in iOS Settings. Denying a permission may limit related features.

PermissionWhy SnapTrip Needs It
CameraScan travel documents, study materials, and other records you choose to capture.
MicrophoneRecord meetings and study sessions for transcription and audio playback.
Speech RecognitionTranscribe recordings into text for meeting notes and study summaries.
NotificationsSend reminders for document dates and deadlines you save in the app.
Reminders (optional)Add meeting action items and travel reminders to Apple Reminders when you choose to save them.
These descriptions match SnapTrip’s in-app permission strings in Info.plist.
08

App Tracking Transparency (ATT)

8.1 What Is ATT?

On iOS, App Tracking Transparency (ATT) is Apple’s system that asks whether you allow an app to track your activity across other companies’ apps and websites for advertising or to share your data with data brokers.

When ATT applies, iOS shows a system prompt such as:

8.2 Does SnapTrip Use Tracking?

SnapTrip is a subscription productivity app. We do not sell your personal information. We do not require cross-app tracking for core features such as scanning, recording, Library, or subscriptions.

If we request ATT permission in a future version, it would be limited to purposes such as:

  • Measuring app performance and stability
  • Understanding which features are used (aggregated analytics)
  • Improving marketing effectiveness for SnapTrip only

We would NOT use ATT approval to:

  • Sell your personal data
  • Share Library content, scans, recordings, or transcripts with advertisers
  • Track you across unrelated third-party apps for unrelated ad networks

8.3 Your Choices Under ATT

  • If you tap Allow — limited device identifiers (such as IDFA) may be used for permitted analytics or attribution as described at the time of the prompt and in this Policy.
  • If you tap Ask App Not to Track — we respect your choice. SnapTrip core features continue to work. We do not enable cross-app tracking for advertising via IDFA.
  • You can change your choice later at: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → SnapTrip

8.4 If No ATT Prompt Appears

If you do not see an ATT prompt, SnapTrip is not performing activities that require it on your device/version, or tracking may be disabled at the system level. Lack of a prompt does not affect your ability to use capture, Library, or subscription features.

8.5 Info.plist String (Only If ATT Is Enabled)

If your build includes tracking that requires ATT, Info.plist should include NSUserTrackingUsageDescription, for example:

“SnapTrip uses this identifier to measure app performance and improve the product. We do not sell your scans, recordings, or Library content.”

Only enable ATT if your app actually uses tracking as defined by Apple.

09

Notifications and Reminders

If you enable notifications, SnapTrip may send alerts about document dates or deadlines you saved.

If you choose to export items to Apple Reminders, the relevant text is shared with Apple’s Reminders app under your control. Apple’s privacy policy applies to data stored in Reminders.

10

Subscriptions and Payments

Purchases are processed by Apple. We receive subscription status from Apple but not your full payment credentials.

See Apple’s privacy policy for how Apple handles payment information: apple.com/legal/privacy
